Frequently asked questions

It’s completely natural to have questions or doubts about starting therapy. Asking is a powerful first step; it helps you make an informed decision about what kind of support feels right for you.

Is therapy for me? I feel generally fine...

Therapy isn’t just for moments of crisis. Just like how we exercise to maintain physical health, therapy can support our emotional and mental well-being - even when things seem “fine.”

Through therapy, we strengthen different parts of our inner world: our awareness of thoughts, emotions, beliefs, behaviours, and body sensations. It’s a space to reflect, recalibrate, and grow into the life you want to live - whether you're healing, evolving, or simply curious about yourself.

What’s the process like?

In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll explore your goals, your current context, and important life experiences that shape how you relate to yourself and others.

This gives us a fuller picture - not just of the challenges you face, but of the strengths and resources you already carry. Together, we’ll clarify the direction of our work and track progress over time.

As therapy unfolds, you're welcome to bring in anything you’d like to explore - from ongoing patterns to recent events. The space is always yours.

What happens in a session?

We talk, reflect, and sometimes engage in guided exercises that help you connect more deeply with your inner experience. Depending on what feels right, I may draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Schema Therapy, or relational tools like Gottman-informed practices.

The work doesn’t stop at the session door. You’ll be encouraged to reflect between sessions, experiment with new ways of being, and notice what shifts organically in your day-to-day life.

How many sessions will I need, and how often?

There’s no fixed timeline. In the beginning, I usually recommend meeting weekly or fortnightly to build trust, establish rhythm, and explore your story in depth.

Some clients begin to notice shifts within a few months. Others - especially those working through complex trauma or long-standing patterns - may benefit from longer-term support. We’ll revisit this together along the way to make sure the pace and structure support your needs.

What if I want to stop?

Therapy is always your choice. You have the full right to pause, stop, or take a break whenever you need to. I only ask that we talk about it together, so we can reflect on your journey, honour the work done, and offer the closure that feels right for you.

What are your fees? What if I can’t afford them?

My standard fees are:

$260 SGD for a 60-minute individual therapy session

$300 SGD for a 60-minute relationship or couple session

For relationship work, sessions are often longer (75 or 90 minutes), and fees are prorated accordingly.

I understand that therapy is a commitment - emotionally, logistically, and financially. If cost is a concern, I welcome you to reach out.

I believe therapy should be as accessible as possible, while also being sustainable for both client and therapist. I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots for those who may not be able to afford the full fee, especially students, underemployed individuals, or those in caregiving roles.

The sliding scale is based on financial need, life circumstances, and availability. If cost is a barrier, you're warmly invited to get in touch. We can discuss your situation together and see if there’s a way to make therapy more financially workable for you.

Please note that these reduced-fee slots are limited, and may involve wait times depending on current availability.
